Logging symptoms
Belle Ring measures your body around the clock; logging symptoms is how you tell the app what that data feels like from the inside. The two layers together — your physiology and your own words — are what let Belle find the patterns that actually matter to you.
How to log
Open the app and tap the symptom you want to record. Most logging is tap-not-type: mood, irritability, anxiety, energy, cramps, headaches, sleep — you pick from a list and set how strong it feels. A full daily log takes about 30 seconds. Add a short note if something needs context the taps don’t capture.
You log once a day, ideally around the same time, so the timing of your entries stays consistent across your cycle.
What you can track
The symptom set follows two clinical tools Belle is built on: the PSST (Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool) and the DRSP (Daily Record of Severity of Problems) — the same questionnaires a psychiatrist uses to screen for premenstrual conditions. That’s why your logs eventually hold up in front of a clinician: they’re structured the way the instruments are.
You can track mood and emotional symptoms (irritability, anxiety, low mood, tension), physical symptoms (cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, headaches), energy and sleep, and anything else relevant to the condition you set up when you started.
Why daily logging matters
Belle needs 2–3 cycles of consistent logs before it can tell you anything reliable about your patterns. A symptom logged once is just a data point; the same symptom logged across three luteal phases is a pattern. The ring’s biometrics confirm what your log says — a temperature shift lining up with the cramps you recorded — but the ring can’t feel your mood. Only you can log that.
If you miss a day, log it when you remember. Belle would rather have an honest gap than a guessed-at entry.
Editing an entry
Tap any past day to change or add to what you logged. Backfilling yesterday is fine — the app timestamps each entry to the day it’s for, not the day you typed it.
Once you have a few cycles in, see how Belle turns those logs into patterns in How Belle gets to know your cycle.
