I got logged out and my data is gone — how to get it back

Your data is not gone. We know it feels that way — opening the app and seeing an empty calendar after months of logging is genuinely scary — but in almost every case the data is still on Belle’s servers and the screen is showing you a fresh, signed-out state. Here’s how to bring it back.

The reassurance first

Belle stores your cycle data on AWS servers in Frankfurt (eu-central-1). We don’t delete anything without your explicit consent (Settings → Privacy → Delete account). Server outages happen rarely and are recoverable. Your data hasn’t been deleted by us, by an update, or by you accidentally tapping the wrong thing.

What almost always happens when the app looks empty: the app got signed out (a routine token refresh failed, you updated iOS, you cleared app data, etc.), and when it reloads, it shows you a clean slate as if you were a new user — because from the app’s perspective, you are. The fix is to sign back in correctly.

Step 1 — Force-close and reopen

iPhone: swipe up and away on the Belle app in the app switcher.

Android: swipe Belle away in the recent apps view.

Reopen the app. If it asks you to sign in, that confirms the diagnosis — you got signed out. Continue to step 2.

If the app opens normally but your data is still missing, jump to step 4.

Step 2 — Sign in with the SAME method you originally used

This is the most important step. Belle supports three sign-in methods:

  • Sign in with Apple
  • Sign in with Google
  • Email + password

You must use the same one you originally signed up with. If you signed up with Sign in with Apple on iPhone, your account is tied to your Apple ID — signing in with an email and password will create a new account and your data won’t appear.

If you don’t remember which method you used, try them in this order:

1. If you’re on iPhone, try Sign in with Apple first (the most common method) 2. If you’re on Android, try Sign in with Google first 3. If neither shows your data, try email + password with the email you most likely used to sign up (check your inbox for old „Welcome to Belle“ emails)

Step 3 — Wait 10 seconds after signing in

When you sign in successfully, the app pulls your data from the backend. This usually takes 1–5 seconds, but on a poor connection or after a long absence, it can take up to 30 seconds. Don’t tap around frantically — let it load. Your cycle history will reappear.

Step 4 — If your data is still missing after signing in correctly

Email support@bellehealth.co with:

  • The email address you used to sign up
  • Which sign-in method you used (Apple, Google, or email)
  • Roughly when you last saw your data
  • The phone / device you’re on

We can look up your data in our backend and reconnect it to your account from our end. We’ve never lost a user’s data this way; it’s almost always an account-routing issue that we can fix.

Please include the email address — we can only find your data if we can match it to a Belle account.

What if I signed up months or years ago and don’t remember anything?

That’s fine. Email us and we’ll work it out. Search your inbox for „Belle“ or „bellehealth“ — old confirmation emails will tell you the email address you used. If you used Sign in with Apple, your Apple ID is the account identifier.

Preventing this next time

The cleanest defense: in Settings → Account, note down which sign-in method you used and which email is associated with your account. If you ever get logged out, you’ll know exactly how to sign back in.

You can also enable two-factor authentication in Settings → Security if you want an extra layer — though for most users, just remembering the sign-in method is enough.

We’re working on better session-recovery flows so this scare happens less often. Sorry for the moment of panic.
