How to start with Belle if you have the Cycle App only

If you have the Belle Cycle App and no Ring, you can still do the thing you came here for: understand your cycle. The Ring adds a layer of biometric data later, but the App on its own is a complete starting point — here’s how to begin.

Set up on day one

When you first open the app, Belle asks you three things: where you are in your cycle right now, what conditions you’re tracking, and what you want to understand. There’s no quiz to „score” you and no prediction on day one. An app that claims to know your cycle the moment you install it is guessing — your cycle is yours, and Belle starts by listening rather than assuming.

Log a little, every day

Each day you log how you’re feeling — mood, energy, irritability, anxiety, physical pain — through the app. It’s mostly tap, not type, and takes about 30 seconds. If you’re tracking PMDD, this logging is built on the PSST and DRSP, the two symptom records a psychiatrist uses to assess premenstrual dysphoric disorder. That’s why your data holds up if you bring it to a clinician.

Give it 2–3 cycles

Belle won’t predict your patterns in week one, and it shouldn’t. Over 2–3 cycles, the app learns your baseline and starts showing you which symptoms cluster in your luteal phase and which are happening on their own. The textbook 28-day cycle is closer to 29.3 on average, with a real range of 21–35 days — so the app waits to learn your actual rhythm before it tells you anything about it.

What the App alone can’t do

Without the Ring, Belle works from what you log, not from your physiology. It doesn’t measure your heart rate variability, skin temperature, or sleep stages — those come from the Ring and give the app a second data layer that confirms your symptom log. App-only insights are real, but they rest on your daily entries. The more consistently you log, the sharper the patterns get.

You can add the Ring whenever you’re ready, and your existing logs carry over.
